Digital Collections: A Future For Small Museums

Digital Collections: A Future for Small Museums

This presentation discusses and examines multiple aspects of creating digital collections and digitization projects within smaller institutions.

Topics covered include funding, selecting artifacts for a digital collection, collaboration opportunities, software options, reasons to digitize, and the elements necessary for an outstanding digital collection in a smaller institution (museum or library).

Presented 18 February 2014 at the Small Museum Association 30th annual conference in Ocean City, MD by Amanda M. Shepp, MLS.

An encore performance of this presentation was given in March 2014 on the Connecting 2 Collections forum hosted in part by the IMLS and Heritage Preservation.  A link to that presentation will be posted here as soon as it's up and ready, so stay tuned.

Thank you for your interest and support.  If you have any questions about this presentation or on the topic of digital collections, please feel free to email me.
